Where work, rest and play fit seamlessly together

When we met Roberto, a detail-oriented graphic designer, there was an immediate synergy. He came to us having designed the layout for a multi-functional bedroom storage unit, blending wardrobes with a work-from-home desk and a place to house his bicycle. It was our job to turn his triptych of ideas into reality, shifting elements around to create a seamless and functional piece of furniture that slotted perfectly into the corner of his room.

The space wasn’t a straightforward blank canvas, with boxing along the ceiling and a skirting board to consider. Plus, the irregular 52-degree angle of the corner meant we needed to find a way to bring both edges of the unit together, fully flush, with no precious space wasted. A challenge we gladly accepted. The real star of the show, however, was Roberto’s bicycle which he was keen to store in an easily accessible way within the cabinetry. We designed a flexible grid system to the bike’s exact dimensions, with a solid wooden dowel that would hook under the wheel, all neatly tucked away behind a full-length mirror. Resting atop the peg board, we included a thin shelf, specifically measured for Roberto’s collection of small figurines and trinkets he’s collected over the years.
