Tom & Caz

London, E11

Tom and Caz’s music and tech collection had outgrown their existing vinyl storage, which doubled as a partition between the dining and living spaces. The unit was too low for Tom and left cables exposed, creating safety and aesthetic issues. While they love entertaining with dinner and records, the setup no longer showcased their passion for vinyl.

Working with Lozi’s designer-maker Rowena, they created a tailored solution. The new unit adds height, offering better access while utilising vertical space to divide the room effectively. Wooden dowels frame each album’s artwork, with features like shelf stoppers securing records and extended dowels displaying the currently-playing sleeve. Its modular design allows for future expansion, keeping the growing collection consistent.

The lower section solves tech clutter. A custom top plate fits Tom’s DJ equipment precisely, with cutouts for button access and an adaptable panel for interchangeable mixers. Thoughtful cable management ensures everything stays neat, with the unit’s depth optimised for record storage below.

A final touch address Tom’s mischievous cat - Rowena added a portable headphone hook that could be moved out of paw’s reach. The result is a functional unit that celebrates Tom and Caz’s love for vinyl and design.

A softened work from home zone within a Leytonstone family home

Tom and Caz wanted to add a work from home area for Tom with space to store their books. However, they didn’t want the new furniture to feel too office-like or overbearing in the room as it would also be a hangout area for the whole family, especially their son. They had a sofa which would sit opposite the desk with the screen doubling as a TV.

They opted for a central desk with a pegboard above, bookended by a shelving unit either side with enclosed storage at the bottom. Taking Tom’s height into account, our designer-maker Rowena made the desk a little taller than standard to make it more comfortable. And the adjustable shelves of the pegboard mean they can be moved to fit around Tom’s computer screen (and any future screens of varying sizes and heights).

The open shelving keeps the space feeling open and soft, with room for plants and ornaments as well as books. Curved edges throughout add to the gentle nature of the furniture, creating a space that can be enjoyed whether working or resting. For practicality, the enclosed storage is handy for tucking away office supplies such as paperwork and folders. All cables are under control, with cutouts in the desk and lower unit leading to a hidden socket within the cupboard.

Tom and Caz opted for dark blue Fenix for the central section, mirroring their sofa opposite, creating a river of blue running through the space. They felt the rest of their colour choices should give a muted but bright finish to bring a calmness to the remainder of the room. Our Seagull Grey paint was the ideal fit for the sliding doors, with white laminate shelves and solid wooden dowels above.
