A Lozi Wedding

From furniture designer to a wedding planner, Soroush turned the workshop into his dream venue.

Planning your perfect wedding is one of the most exciting and stressful times of anyone's life!  From dress and suit shopping, picking out rings, choosing great caterers down to planning flower arrangements, every single details requires love, care and attention.  However, nothing matters more than the venue you hold your wedding in - it needs to be somewhere that strikes the perfect balance between practical considerations, personal connection and romance.

When our founder Soroush proposed to his long term partner Barbara last summer, they never dreamt they would be holding their wedding reception somewhere so close to their hearts!  It didn't take them long to realise they had their perfect venue all along:  the Lozi workshop on Hackney Road in East London!

Hard pushed to find a more romantic place, Soroush proposed whilst on holiday to the UNESCO world heritage site of Cinque Terra on the Italian Riviera at the end of August last year.  He fashioned a charming ring hand made out of fresh twine, a romantic and down to earth touch which stayed true to the couple's approach to life.  

Never two to make things easy for themselves, they both decided they couldn't wait until the next summer and absolutely had to get married the same year!  Manic wedding planning ensued, making finding a venue even harder than usual, especially as they were also planning weddings in Tehran over Christmas and France for the summer after! 

Thankfully, the renovations in the workshop had been completed a few months previously and the space was large enough to accommodate the eclectic mix of guests they were anticipating!  Over several days, and with the help of many friends, they transformed the workshop into a beautiful and romantic wedding venue, ideal for such an intimate event and full of personal touches close to the couple's heart. 

Clever planning and fairy lights as far as the eye could see transformed the space without full disguising it.  They made the most of all the Lozi equipment available.  The vacuum press used to create the smooth curves in the Lozi collection was turned into a wine bar, the large CNC machine was cleaned up and became the buffet table, covered in excellent food for the guests to help themselves to and even the large table saw was transformed into a table top for tea and coffee.  

They also made the most of Soroush's skills as a furniture designer, making the long dining table to measure then recycling it into the Lozi production chain.  Christmas decorations were made using offcuts and remnants from production and a candle holder originally designed for the table will soon find its way into the £9.99 collection!

Buying everything they needed for their wedding from local businesses was very important to Soroush and Barbara. 

Not only does he know how important support is to a local shop, but he also wanted to be able to wonder around his local area, pass one of these brilliant local companies and be flooded with wonderful memories from this special day. 

They discovered the fantastic jeweller Ben Day on Columbia Road when doing flower research.  Their gold wedding bands ended up being made only a few doors down from the workshop!  All the flowers and leaves were bought from the famous Columbia Road Flower market and local bakery Lily Vanilli designed a cake to match Barbara's bouquet.  Hoxton caterers Humdingers made the amazing food and Barbara used hairdressers Ralph and Rice, also based in Hoxton and a fantastic Lozi customer!
